The winner of this year's competition to design Gillian Merron MP's official Christmas card has been announced today as Missie Rath, age 9, from Sir Francis Hill School. The competition was open to children age 11 or younger at school in Lincoln and Bracebridge Heath and entries were judged by a panel of - Gillian Merron MP, the Bishop of Lincoln, and the Editor of the Lincolnshire Echo. Missie designed a card featuring Lincoln Cathedral with Father Christmas and his reindeer flying overhead. Gillian Merron said: "It was great to once again see so many entries for my Christmas Card Competition from school across Lincoln. I send hundreds of cards to people in Lincoln and Westminster - including the Prime Minister - and all the judges thought that Missie's picture with it's drawing of the Cathedral, and a greeting from Lincoln - represented our city really well. It's a cracking design which we were all really pleased with." "It was a close run thing though, and the designs by Chloe, Jasmin and Roanna were all excellent. It was a tough decision but I hope the winner and runners up all enjoy seeing their designs in print." |
