CITY MP TARGETS CANCER AND BACKS PATIENTS RIGHTS

Gillian Merron MP for Lincoln has today backed the launch of voteNHS.com, outlining Labour's 2010 health campaign which focuses on improving cancer care and patients rights. Health Secretary Andy Burnham launched the "Target Cancer" campaign which aims to save up to 10,000 lives a year by backing a pledge to create a new NHS guarantee of cancer diagnosis within one week of GP referral by 2015, allowing patients to be tested and told their results in a maximum of seven days. Keith Alexander managed Lincoln City through it’s most difficult time off the pitch. With the club entering into administration and the previous manager gone Keith was appointed manager again (he had a stint in charge in the early 90s) and in 2002/2003 season his first full season – Lincoln were favourites for relegation, but instead had a storming end to the season and confounded the critics by taking us to the play-off final. LINCOLN MP VISITS NEW HOSPITAL WARD

MP for Lincoln and Public Health Minister, Gillian Merron visited staff and patients on a brand new ward at Lincoln County Hospital yesterday. The new £2.8m Navenby Ward opened in January providing 23 additional beds for cardio and respiratory patients. The ward also contains two negative pressure rooms to provide specialist infection control facilities for respiratory patients and a special bariatric suite to care for grossly overweight patients who need specialist equipment and facilities to ensure high standards of care, privacy and dignity. New figures released today show Britain has come out of recession.
